Perry Mountain Tower Run Adventure Rally: KTM AMA National Adventure Riding Series

Deemed God's country for off-road motorcycles, Perry Mountain Motorcycle Club offers some of the best dual sport and adventure riding in the country with endless miles of flowing national forest trails, legendary knuckle-busting singletrack and scenic views from atop the famous Perry Mountain fire tower.

This is one event that you don't want to miss!

We are excited to announce that for 2019, our annual ride has again been selected by the AMA to be one of the events in the AMA National Dual Sport & Adventure Series! This prestigious series is known for their first-rate events all over the country, and it is an honor to be invited to be part of their 2019 schedule.

CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE

Both routes will run Saturday and Sunday, so choose the one that's best for you!

Dual Sport Route:

Our Tower Run Dual Sport route is not for the faint of heart. Here at Perry Mountain Motorcycle Club, we host national enduros, harescrambles and other races year-round, so we have hundreds of miles of great challenging singletrack trails. This route will consist mostly of these fun, yet challenging trails, but we also will venture out on some surrounding properties and National Forest roads for fast and fun breather sections. This route is meant for those with lots of off-road riding experience. It's the retired enduro racer's dream! We have a very diverse landscape here in Central Alabama, so be prepared for thick tight woods, hills, deep sand, rocks, mud, ruts, roots and everything else between. Our Dual Sport route is best suited for smaller dirt bike style dual sports. (WR250R, DRZ400, KTM 350, etc), but can also be tackled by experienced riders on larger dual sports (XR650, DR650, KTM 690, etc). Barkbusters, full DOT knobbies are highly recommended and fuel range of 50+ miles is necessary.
This route will be GPS mapped, with the trails also marked with arrows, so you are free to ride at your own pace! Find a group of friends to ride with and take breaks when you feel the need! With two days full the best off road riding in the southeast... you'll be sure to leave feeling you got your money's worth!

Adventure Route:

The Tower Run Adventure route is more mild tempered than the Dual Sport route, but dont let that fool you! We still get down and dirty, and this ride will test the limits of you and your bike! Following the provided GPS routes, our Adventure route will lead you through thousands of acres of our Perry Mountain Motorcycle Club property, neighboring Talladega National Forest and surrounding rural areas. Most of what we will be riding is dirt / gravel forest roads (some maintained, some not) with some paved road sections through the beautiful Central Alabama countryside.
Be prepared for everything from pavement, hard-packed forest roads, loose dirt, rocks, sand and possibly mud depending on the weather conditions. This Adventure Route allows for a fast and fun pace with lots of places to stop and check out the scenery.

The Adventure route is best suited for off-road friendly adventure bikes and large dual sports (KTM Adv bikes, Africa Twin, Vstrom, BMW GS, KLRs, XR 650, DR650, KTM 690, etc). 50/50 tires are HIGHLY recommended and a 50+ mile fuel range is necessary.

But dont think that this route is only for the big bikes! We also have lots of smaller bikes join us. (WR250R, DRZ400, KTM 350, etc). If your idea of dual sport riding is rough backroads and not gnarly singletrack, this is the ride for you! You won’t be the only one on a smaller bike, and you wont regret it!

Location:

2464 County Road 26
Plantersville, Alabama 36758

GPS Coordinates: 32.684600, -86.925089

Perry Mountain Motorcycle Club is located right in the heart of Alabama. Situated 20 miles west of I-65, we are southwest of Maplesville, right off Hwy 22 on CR 26.

When you enter our property, you drive under a sign reading 'Reynolds Pasture', the name of our parking and camping area, named after the land owners. Our clubhouse sits atop the hill overlooking the pasture, where we park and camp for our events. Running through the middle of Reynolds pasture is a cool flowing creek with a nice sandy bottom, which just so happens to be a great place to cool off in the summer months. Right alongside the creek, we have a large fenced in play area for kids to enjoy themselves, which includes everything from swingsets to a full jungle gym. A few years ago, a couple club members worked to build a beautiful bathroom and shower house, which is open to all visitors. Just beyond clubhouse hill, we have access to thousands of acres of diverse riding area. The terrain varies from rich black soil, to red clay, sand, rocks, and just the right mixture of hills, valleys, creeks and open pasture.

Camping and Lodging:

• Unlimited Parking for campers, RV's and Primitive Camping
• We do not have any hookups, so feel free to bring generators.
• Fires are okay as long as we aren't under a burn ban at the time.
• We have a nice bath house available to you on site with showers.
• Hotels are an option, but are all 20+ miles away. (Selma, Clanton, Prattville)
• Local Gas Station named "The Barking Frog" serves food and has 90 octane no ethanol gasoline.  (6 miles north on hwy22 towards Maplesville)
